The Lake

Lake Lillinonah is Connecticut’s second largest lake located just east of the state’s largest lake, Candlewood Lake. The surrounding towns of Brookfield, Bridgewater, Newtown, New Milford, and Southbury provide various shopping and conveniences.

Lake Lillinonah is quite river-like, stretching for 12 miles and having beatutifully tree-lined shores. Its waters cover 1,547 acres in total and have a whopping 45 miles of shoreline. The lake was created in 1955 by the Shepaug Dam on the Housatonic River. The maximum water depth of the lake is 110 feet.
